FLORIS Kitchenstory No. 2

FLORIS Catering Berlin • Apr. 01, 2020

Great films against boredom!

Culinary cinema tips from the FLORIS chef personally. Floris (managing director of FLORIS Catering) loves these films. He lets us take a deep look at his leisure time and recommends his three absolute favorite films for enjoyment.

Tip 1: Sideways
USA, 2004, 127min, FSK 12

Floris´ film review:
A film about a lot of wine, wine connoisseurs and non-connoisseurs, a friendship between men, betrayal, jealousy, love and honesty towards yourself - great cinema pleasure!

Here is the trailer.

My favorite dish: Coq au vin (or chicken in red wine sauce) - is a classic recipe from the French country kitchen from Burgundy.

Contest:
Why does “not Merlot!” Get such a special mention in the film? - Send the correct answer and the first 12 correct entries will receive a bottle of FLORIS French house wine Merlot for free!

Tip 2: Ratatouille

USA, 2007, 106min, FSK 0

Floris´ film review:
Delicious film fun for the whole family! Remy, an unusual young rat dreams of becoming a famous chef one day in one of the finest restaurants in Paris. Torn between the wishes of his family and his true passion, Remy starts a chain of hilarious events with his new friend, the kitchen boy Linguini. Ratatouille is a very special treat that you simply cannot get enough of!

Here is the trailer.

My favorite dish for this film, of course, is the classic ratatouille - a braised vegetable stew from the Provençal kitchen which serves as a side dish, starter or intermediate dish. Plus a light, fresh Chardonnay! Bon Appetit!

Tip 3: The hundred foot journey….

USA, FSK 0, 2014, 117min

Floris´ film review:
A film between France and India and the wonderful kitchens of these two countries. The young Indian Hassan has an exceptional talent for cooking. Together with his father, the man has to leave India and moves to the south of France to open an Indian restaurant there, if Madame Mallory would also not be running a restaurant there. This film makes me hungry for my favorite Indian curry with lots of garam masala, turmeric, ginger, clove and cardamom.

Here is the trailer.

Floris wishes you a relaxed and culinary evening at the cinema!

Stay at home & have fun!

Yours Floris Vlasman
