COMPOSTING BY FLORIS

We are fascinated by the idea of turning our own food waste into compost in-house in order to make further sensible use of our waste and close the recycling loop. We are taking this step to act even more sustainably, to avoid unnecessary waste and to protect the environment. We use the compost to fertilize our own company garden or return the compost to our suppliers for their fields.

For composting, we used a special composting plant of the brand Oklin, which is easy to handle and has a low odor. In addition to vegetable and fruit waste, eggshells, tea bags and coffee as well as filter bags also belong in the composting plant. This processes food scraps, organic waste or even biodegradable disposable tableware into compost within just 24 hours using special microorganisms. In other words, the waste is processed into a soil substitute with a high cellulose content; this also achieves an average reduction in the total volume of 80 to 90 percent.

As Germany's first caterer, we compost our waste and thus become even more sustainable. For the sake of the environment!
